Scaling Enthusiast asks;

From your experience, how big would you say the overlap truly is between pedophiles and lolicons/shotacons(from 1 out of 10)? Are you one yourself?

I’m a lolicon and a MAP. I’ve known I was a lolicon since I was 14, but was in denial about being a MAP until I was 19, due to the much greater stigma. So, I imagine plenty of lolicons and shotacons are in denial like I was. At the same time, I will not paint with such a broad brush as to say it’s all of them, or even a majority, or even a large minority. I have absolutely zero way of determining how common my story is. It’s impossible to study because a MAP in denial is as good as a non-MAP to a researcher. I have no intuition on this, either. For all I know, or for all anybody knows, I could be a very rare case.

I guess it depends on the exact nature of the question. Are you asking how many pedophiles are shota/lolicon (kodacon)? Or how many kodacons are pedophiles? There are definitely some kodacons that claim to have no attraction to actual children, and there are some pedophiles that have no interest in kodacon, but I’m assuming there’s a lot of overlap. Lolicon is legal where I live, and I have viewed it. It’s nice, but I prefer adult porn with real people.

If kodocons are being honest with themselves, I’d venture to estimate that 9 in 10 of them are pedophiles. I am a shotacon in the sense that I legally consume shota as a sexual outlet. However, I’m not attracted to shotas themselves. I’m only attracted to real boys, so I picture shotas as real boys in my head to fuel my fantasies.

Personally I’ve never been attracted to loli/shota, and I’m very rarely (if at all) attracted to fictional depictions of children (I think the only time this has properly happened to me was when I played a mainstream video game that featured a realistic looking child, and even then I imagined him being a real boy). My fantasies are always about real kids, and whenever I read stories I always imagine a child from real life. The unrealistic/cartoonish look just doesn’t do anything for me.

I’ve no idea what the overlap is between pedophiles and lolicons/shotacons. I’m sure there’s a lot of overlap, but I do think it’s believable that there are other pedophiles who have the same experience as me (only attracted to real kids), and that there are those who are only attracted to loli/shota and not to real kids.

This is going to be a bit of a Sergeant Schultz post. I know nothing. Other than knowing that these are Japanese drawings, I’ve never seen them or understand what attracts people to them. I haven’t heard the term used to describe an individual. e.g. this person is a lolicon.

I don’t find shota particularly attractive (and loli not at all) so I’m not really in the overlap.

Loli and shota use “visual cues” associated with childhood (big eyes, short chin, big head to body ratio, low muscle tone) but they are stylised to exaggerate these things, a sort of “cutemaxing”.

It’s not surprising that many pedophiles respond to this as not only do we like childlike physical features, but many of us also report that our response to “cute” also activates sexual interest, whereas in other people the two things are more distinct.

For me, personally, the exaggeration makes them seem grotesque rather than cute, but for others I guess it’s a hyperstimulus. Kodocon has even more “cute” than biological children and therefore delivers a bigger sexual hit for some pedophiles.

We have no reliable data about how many kodocons are also pedophiles or vice versa. I am willing to bet that over half of the people who are sexually aroused by kodocon are pedophilic.

I am also willing to bet that less than half of the pedophiles are also sexually attracted to kodocon.

But these aren’t statistics; they’re my prejudices.

I knew I was a pedophile before I ever discovered kodocon. Finding lolicon content was a revelation for me. I definitely love the exaggerated cuteness portrayed in it.

It took me years to learn about different types of attraction. My attraction to real children is mostly aesthetic, romantic, and emotional. My attraction to drawings is mostly sexual.

If I had to guess, maybe 7/10 people into kodocon are also pedophiles, and many are likely in denial.

It’s difficult to say the exact overlap. There are a number of different kinds of people who will look at kodocon. There are autopedophiles, people who experience sexual pleasure from imagining themselves as children, these people aren’t necessarily pedophiles (though there can be overlap there also. There are people who had CSA in their history, and work through their trauma by using kodocon. There are people who are attracted to cute things and fictophiles, they don’t like real kids, but kodocon is so cute that it draws their attention.

And then there’s me. I really like shotacon and I am definitely a pedophile. I think if I had to guess I’d say that maybe 70-75% of the people into kodocon are pedophiles, but that’s just a complete guess. A few of the major kodocon sites do have sections of their board devoted to talking about minor attraction and pedophilia, and that’s for a reason.

I would assume they overlap heavily. I use shotacon stuff plenty though I’m always imagining them as real kids, I find it a good outlet for my desires. I’m sure there are some Kodacon people who aren’t maps but I imagine the vast majority are.

After having been around in MAP spaces for a while now, I’ve definitely learned that there is a large amount of people into shotacon/lolicon, but for me to tell how big the overlap is, is really difficult. A guesstimate of mine would think that atleast over half of them are. However this is mostly due to me not understanding how one can be into the extreme childlike features of shota/lolicon and not be into those same, though less exaggerated features of real life children.

I would not call myself a shotacon as I rarely use it myself and only find a very small, specific portion of existing shotacon to be sexually intriguing. Legal, non-sexual images of real boys will always work way better for me.
